I read the book. I laughed, I cried, I rejoiced. I enjoyed 75% of it.
But I am now reluctant to see the movie because I am Eat, Pray, Loved out. How does this happen to something that I enjoyed?
It happened when I got the email from World Market that they have a new Eat, Pray, Love product line. Product line? (Come on, this isn’t Hannah Montana we’re talking about!)
Yes, product line. It includes baskets, rugs, furniture, candles, clothing, jewelry, and accessories. (Why not keep it simple?)
Did I mention the wine?
Too bad they didn’t offer EPL brand cheese with that wine. Oh wait, this is cheese.
Teacher Diana Vanderbuilt instructs a class twice a month called “Turning Memories Into Memoirs”. It was this class that got me out of my writer’s block rut about a year and a half ago. She provides each class with writing prompts, which is probably the little shove that I needed to get those creative juices flowing again.
Today Diana was a guest lecturer at a writer’s workshop in New Smyrna Beach. She asked some of her students, including me, to read a piece of our work from class. In particular, I chose the first page or so from my book to read aloud. Because of the content of my memoir, I was a bit nervous – but I got through it!
I am still in the process of publishing. I wanted total control over my book cover, font, editing, etc., so I have decided to self publish. This has definitely been a huge learning experience. I am still learning along the way and hope to have books in print before the holidays (great stocking stuffer – hint, hint!).
